Marcei Brown

Marcei Brown is a founding partner of CatchLight Studios, has more than 25 years of production experience. She is the Co-creator, along with YMF Media Advisory Council member Jeanette Volturno, of the popular industry podcast The Catch A Break Podcast – the insiders guide to breaking into and navigating their career. Marcei is also the Co-founder of Crewvie.com, the leading global database-driven platform of verified entertainment professionals. Developed, curated, and wholly owned by an all-women team of seasoned entertainment & technology professionals, CrewvieTM empowers productions to fulfill their staffing needs with a focus on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. With its innovative search engine, production tools, and insights, Crewvie.com is a driving force in the entertainment industry.

Marcei has produced or managed over 16 films since transitioning from Assistant Directing. Her most recent projects
include SONGBIRD, where she served as a producer on the first movie shot in Los Angeles during the Covid-19 lock down, the upcoming AVIARY, UMMA for Sony Pictures and Sam Rami, BLACKkKLANSMAN and the Academy Award winning film, GET OUT. She previously worked around the country as a Unit Production Manager on major studio movies including EVAN ALMIGHTY, WANDERLUST, IDENTITY THIEF and THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT. She has also worked as an Assistant Director with directors such as Jay Roach, Tom Shadyac, and David Wain.

Marcei began her movie career as a Production Assistant after earning a degree in film from Loyola Marymount University. The camaraderie of the movie-making experience sparked her interest in being a filmmaker. She enjoys making the Director’s vision come to life on the screen.
