Interns Making Impact

June 4, 2024

As grateful recipients of LA County Department of Arts & Culture’s Arts Internship Program, we receive funding that allows us to hire interns from a diverse and talented pool of college students. Our ‘23-’24 interns, Breanna Flores, and Juanita Olaya, recently completed their internships, during which they made a considerable impact on our organization.

As our Programs and Administrative Intern, Juanita supported our School Programs team. She was instrumental in helping to compile and analyze student evaluation surveys and creating a comprehensive impact report that demonstrated program effectiveness in terms of musical skill acquisition and the development of social-emotional learning skills.

In her role as the Community Engagement Intern, Breanna supported our Community Programs team in helping to cultivate and nurture relationships with new and returning students and families. She also launched a student engagement series that encourages program participants to connect and engage with one another outside the classroom.

We are deeply grateful for the support the Department of Arts & Culture provides in making opportunities like these available to YMF and young people throughout LA!
