Evelin Alvarado

Community Engagement Intern

Evelin Alvarado is an aspiring multimedia journalist and community organizer, currently pursuing a degree in Journalism at California State University, Long Beach. With a passion for amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, Evelin’s work focuses on digital storytelling that captures the diverse experiences of Latino culture and life in Los Angeles. Her projects include a diverse range of content, from articles and videos to photography, all dedicated to highlighting the unique subcultures and communities within Los Angeles.

Born and raised in inner-city Los Angeles, Evelin’s deep connection to her community fuels her commitment to representation and advocacy. This connection inspires her to pursue journalism that not only informs but also empowers. Evelin is dedicated to ethical journalism and impactful storytelling, striving to bring underrepresented narratives to the forefront, particularly in environments that are often overlooked by mainstream media.

Through her internship, Evelin aims to further develop her leadership skills within nonprofit spaces, with a particular interest in enhancing accessibility and integrating intersectional frameworks into community initiatives. She is eager to learn and contribute to creating a more inclusive and equitable platform for storytelling.
