Lalou Ratsimihah
Storytelling Intern
Lalou (they/them) has always had a passion for music and storytelling and how the two intersect. They are now exploring that connection with their role as the Storytelling Intern for YMF.
Lalou was raised in Madison, Wisconsin, where they benefitted from a lifetime of accessible music education. Through this education, they gained a love for singing, dancing and playing various instruments. This accessible music education is what drew them to YMF and its mission.
Lalou is a current junior at the University of Southern California, where they’re pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. Lalou has dedicated most of their life to writing and music, whether that’s writing album/concert reviews or working live events. Lalou has also written stories about the injustices and inequities affecting the South LA community, witnessing firsthand the struggles that the community and its people face everyday. Through these experiences, Lalou has gained a passion for advocacy through the arts. They are committed to empowering the South LA community by amplifying their voices and telling their stories.
