Last December, YMF facilitated a number of winter concerts at partner school sites, including Clinton Elementary, Emerson Elementary in the Compton Unified District, and Sacred Heart Elementary School in Angelino Heights. Culminating events such as these create meaningful opportunities for students to showcase their hard work and achievements, and create a spaces where their progress and dedication are celebrated by their school communities. A big thank you to our talented Teaching artists and the incredible staff at our partner schools for their support and contributions to the growth of these remarkable students!

YMF is also excited to announce the commencement of new music programs at St. Philip Neri and East College Prep High School, both in South Los Angeles! We look forward to a promising spring semester of growth and connection through music, warmer weather, spring showers, and wonderful new partnerships. 

In addition, last month our Teaching Artists were led through a professional development workshop facilitated by incredible educator and friend to YMF, Tony Sauza. Together, our TAs engaged in discussion about cultural responsiveness and sustaining pedagogies, instructional strategies, and curricular resources available to them. We are incredibly proud of our Teaching Artists and their commitment to their students and YMF, and are excited to see them continue to grow, as educators, and as artists.
