Juanita L. Olaya
Programs and Administrative Intern
Juanita Olaya joins us as our newest Programs & Administrative Intern. She is currently a senior at California State University, Long Beach pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing and a minor in Public Relations.
Juanita is an international student from Colombia who moved to the U.S. together with her sister at the beginning of 2017. She has dedicated her time here to further her education with hopes of building a career in the entertainment industry. She started her journey completing an Entertainment Studies certificate at UCLA extension which allowed her to develop different projects such as her own short film as well as giving her a deeper understanding of the world of entertainment. Realizing that the city of Los Angeles had much to offer she decided to start pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at Santa Monica College to later transfer to CSULB.
While pursuing her bachelor’s degree, Juanita has been part of different school societies such as the Scholars program at SMC and the Honors Program at CSULB. While at the honors program she will be completing an undergraduate thesis related to the marketing field. She has also held different leadership positions such as being a workshop leader for the Sustainable Works workshop at SMC and currently holding the position of President for the Musical Meditation Club at her current school. Here she leads weekly meetings and organizes events along with the club board to create a space where students can foster deep and meaningful relationships while connecting with ancient Vedic Wisdom.
She hopes to come out of her internship with greater knowledge about the communities that make part of L.A. and the different ways arts programs like the ones at YMF can offer something of value to the families that are essentially the building blocks of these communities. She hopes to develop and enhance skills that will help her bring a different perspective to any project she undertakes.
