During summer 2008, YMF will produce its sixth YMF National Orchestra Camp, one of YMF’s
most successful and beloved program offerings. Led by music director
and conductor Lucas Richman (a YMF alum), the National Orchestra Camp brings
together seventy of the most talented 10-18 year-old musicians from around
the country during the summer and provides a healthy balance of intense orchestral experience
and recreational activities. Orchestra rehearsals, individual practice
time, sectionals, master classes, and recitals are combined with organized free-time
recreational activities including but not limited to basketball, swimming, arts/crafts, hiking and a talent show.
The camp is tuition free, with families only needing to take responsibility for a $20 activity fee and travel expenses
to and from the camp.
The 2007 YMF/Mary Adams Balmat National Orchestra Camp was held at the Black Hills State University in South Dakota. Information on the 2007 camp can be found
by clicking here.
Stay tuned to this page for important announcements regarding next year's camp. Auditions to take place in: Los Angeles, San Francsico, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Portland, New York City, and Atlanta.
