YMF is proud to announce the 36th season of its Chamber Music Series, founded in 1970 by pianist Joanna Graudan. Concerned with the lack of chamber music training for young musicians, and knowing the tremendous importance of small ensemble experience in a student’s development, Ms. Graudan donated the entire proceeds from one of her solo recitals to fund the start of YMF’s chamber music program. From its early beginnings of four chamber groups and a single recital at a private home, the program has grown to support seven ensembles and two professional-style recitals at public venues, including a live broadcast on KMZT’s prestigious Sunday’s Live at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Leo S. Bing Theatre.

Chamber music is an essential and integral part of the training of all musicians, but the opportunity is rarely available before college. Directed by renowned pianist, Delores Stevens, YMF’s Chamber Music Series provides professional coaching to ensembles of some of the most talented young musicians from the greater Los Angles area (from the desert to the sea and from Simi Valley to San Diego.)

The program is open to talented elementary through high school piano, string harp, woodwind and brass players through age 18. Each ensemble receives a grant to pay for coaching sessions with one of LA’s finest master teachers.
