Case Scaglione, Music Director & Conductor of the Debut Orchestra
Case Scaglione was recently named the new Music Director and Conductor of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra. Winner of the 2008 YMF National Conductor Search, he follows in the footsteps of such illustrious alumni YMF conductors as Michael Tilson Thomas, Lawrence Foster, Myung-Whun Chung, Lucas Richman, Jung-Ho Pak, and Daniel Hege.
While still in high school in his native Texas, Mr. Scaglione founded
and conducted the Clear Creek Youth Orchestra. He went on to study
orchestral performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, graduating
with a B.M. in 2005. His undergraduate studies also included a year
abroad in London at the historic Trinity College of Music. He is
currently completing a Graduate Performance Diploma in Conducting at
the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, under the mentorship of
Gustav Meier.
Mr. Scaglione recently made his Russian debut, as an invited guest
conductor of the St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony in spring 2007.
In spring 2008, he serves as guest cover conductor for both the
Baltimore Symphony and Baltimore Opera.
Mr. Scaglione has worked with a number of distinguished conductors in
masterclasses and seminars. He spent the summer of 2006 as a fellowship
conductor at the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen, under the
guidance of David Zinman, Murry Sidlin, and guests, and returns to Aspen
in summer 2008. In 2007, he was invited to the Cabrillo Festival of
Contemporary Music, where he was fortunate enough to work with Marin
Alsop. He has also participated in masterclasses with the Moscow
Symphony Orchestra and Colin Metters, and the St. Petersburg State
Academic Symphony and Vladimir Ponkin.
