Case Scaglione, Music Director & Conductor of the Debut Orchestra

Case Scaglione was recently named the new Music Director and Conductor of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra. Winner of the 2008 YMF National Conductor Search, he follows in the footsteps of such illustrious alumni YMF conductors as Michael Tilson Thomas, Lawrence Foster, Myung-Whun Chung, Lucas Richman, Jung-Ho Pak, and Daniel Hege.

While still in high school in his native Texas, Mr. Scaglione founded and conducted the Clear Creek Youth Orchestra. He went on to study orchestral performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, graduating with a B.M. in 2005. His undergraduate studies also included a year abroad in London at the historic Trinity College of Music. He is currently completing a Graduate Performance Diploma in Conducting at the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, under the mentorship of Gustav Meier.

Mr. Scaglione recently made his Russian debut, as an invited guest conductor of the St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony in spring 2007. In spring 2008, he serves as guest cover conductor for both the Baltimore Symphony and Baltimore Opera.

Mr. Scaglione has worked with a number of distinguished conductors in masterclasses and seminars. He spent the summer of 2006 as a fellowship conductor at the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen, under the guidance of David Zinman, Murry Sidlin, and guests, and returns to Aspen in summer 2008. In 2007, he was invited to the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, where he was fortunate enough to work with Marin Alsop. He has also participated in masterclasses with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Colin Metters, and the St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony and Vladimir Ponkin.
